Lucy g. smooth

A few weeks ago I was debating about joining a gym or fixing my treadmill. After a run on my treadmill, which would prove to be its last, because 2.37 miles into the run it died. I knew the answer was not to fix my treadmill, but to get a new one.

I spent the last few weeks researching and I knew what my treadmill must-haves would be:

  • At least a 2 1/2 HP Motor. My old treadmill had a 2.25 HP Motor and I don't think it was quite enough.

  • A 20 inch wide deck. My old treadmill had an 18 inch deck and I knew I'd be happier with a little more wiggle room.

  • A 60 inch long deck. My old treadmill had a 55 inch long deck. I'm only 5'2" so I never ran out of room and my stride was never compromised, but I may not be the only one to use it.

  • Not a lot of requirements, but I really wanted to be sure that the treadmill I bought had those features.

I also wanted to buy a new one. My old treadmill was not quite three years old and I had run it to death. I didn't want to find myself in the same situation sooner rather than later.

Even though I wanted a new one, I thought I would peek at Craigslist. Here is what I found:

  • A lot of people have treadmills for sale.

  • A lot of people buy treadmills and don't use them.

  • A lot of treadmill owners think their treadmills are made of gold and don't lose any value whatsoever over several years.

  • There are a lot of crappy treadmills out there.

  • There are also a few nice used treadmills out there at a fair price.

  • After all of my research I decided I would like to try to find a LifeFitness Model. Either a F3 or a T3. The F3 is a folding model and the T3 does not fold. Folding wasn't a requirement for me. My old treadmill folded and I never folded it one single time.

I knew I needed a treadmill soon, so how long could I wait for the treadmill I wanted to appear?

Would you believe it was already there?

Last Friday, the day before the ad expired, I found a LifeFitness T3 for sale near Ocala. I sent an email and I was hopeful for a reply, but by Sunday evening when I still hadn't gotten a reply, I had given up.

Monday afternoon I received an email from the owner of the treadmill I had inquired about.

    It was still available!

Monday evening we went to take a look at it. I gave it a quick run. I was feeling the eleven miles from Sunday and my heel was hurting just a little, and after just a few minutes I was sold!

The owner of the treadmill said she we give us a few minutes to talk it over. Mr. H. told her that there was no need to think it over, he knew I wanted it.

And just like that I had a new treadmill.

I went for my first run on her yesterday and named her Lucy g. smooth.

This whole summer was never about a lack of mojo. It was about beating the heat, fighting the humidity and finding the consistency I need.

I'm looking forward to what this will bring.

    1. Hooray for a new treadmill!!

Without a doubt, training in the summer here is TOUGH. If I hadn't signed up for a hot race, I'd be doing my best to avoid the heat rather than forcing myself to get out there and deal with it.

      Happy running!

    2. Welcome, Lucy! You've found a great home.

I completely can relate to "This whole summer was never about a lack of mojo. It was about beating the heat, fighting the humidity and finding the consistency I need." Me, too, sista!

    4. Almost your neck of the woods Crazy Runner. I got it in The Villages. I'm in Tavares so it was right between your neck of the woods and mine.
